Aprima Electronic Health Record (EHR) has been awarded Tier 1 status by the Arizona Regional Extension Center (REC). Known as Health-e Connection, the Arizona REC created its Vendor Alliance Program to "offer health care providers in Arizona the freedom and flexibility to select the electronic health record (EHR) system best suited for their practice, while still providing guidance and direction to assist with that selection."
Health-e Connection is one of 62 federal RECs across the country that helps providers select, implement and use EHRs. A key component of their support includes helping providers achieve Meaningful Use. The RECs were established to provide a source of knowledgeable, unbiased help for physician practices making the transition from paper to electronic charting.
To be accepted as a Tier 1 vendor, Aprima had to demonstrate that its EHR is certified as meeting Federal Stage 1 Meaningful Use ONC Certification requirements as well as Arizona-specific interoperability requirements. In addition, Aprima EHR had to have a significant base of Arizona physicians already using the program.
As part of its Tier 1 commitment, Aprima will offer preferred pricing and provider education to REC members. Practices can use the Resource Center to find information on Meaningful Use, complete online courses on topics such as Practice Assessment and The Power of the EHR, and access a members-only question-and-answer service.
