Eligible professionals (EPs) looking for particulars on core and menu objectives for meeting Stage 2 meaningful use criteria under the EHR Incentive Programs have new resources at their disposal. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), which administers the incentive programs, has added new specification sheets for the measures on the Stage 2 page of the agency's EHR website.[See also: EHR incentive payments from CMS exceed $8B through October]
CMS also added specs sheets for eligible hospitals and critical access hospitals. Each sheet includes the objective, measure and exclusion for each core and menu objective, as well as definitions of terms, attestation requirements, and corresponding standards and certification criteria, according to CMS.
EPs can view the spec sheets in two ways:
- The Table of Contents lists all core and menu objectives, which direct links to each individual spec sheet.
- Download zip files containing PDFs of all core and menu objectives.
CMS reminds EPs that the earliest that the Stage 2 criteria will be effective is in calendar year 2014. All providers must achieve Stage 1 meaningful use before moving to Stage 2.[See also: EHR incentives may reach $20 billion by 2015]
